Cerezo Osaka

Cerezo Osaka haven’t tasted victory in J1 League for three rounds running. Now, in Matchday 12, they welcome the division’s newest boys to their stadium. Can the hosts finally break their slump against such modest opposition, or is another draw on the cards?
With 13 points to their name, Cerezo sit in a lowly 13th place in the standings. It’s been a considerable stretch since they last won a league game – their recent successes have come only in domestic cup competitions, offering little consolation to the board or the fanbase.
Round 11 saw them travel to Nagoya and grind out a 1-1 draw. True to a troubling pattern, Cerezo turned in a dismal first half: they conceded twice and created virtually nothing in attack. This time, however, VAR intervened on their behalf, wiping out the second goal they’d let in. After the break the team finally started to play, but all their efforts produced was a single equaliser. Nobody really deserved to win that match, and the final scoreline was entirely fair.
At home this season, Cerezo have not looked the formidable, intimidating force they were in previous campaigns. On their own patch, they couldn’t even overcome Tokyo Verdi (0-0). Their averages reflect this fragility: they score only 0.91 goals per league game while conceding 1.55. The total goal average in their matches sits at 2.45, suggesting their defence is their weakest link.
After 11 matches, Chiba have collected just six points and occupy second‑last place in the table. The J1 League newcomers fight for every point in each game, but they simply lack the class to compete consistently. Only one victory has come their way in the entire campaign. That said, there are signs of life up front: in the previous round, the yellow‑greens managed to find the net twice.
Last time out, Chiba lost 2-3 away to Urawa. They actually looked decent, outperforming their star‑studded opponents in expected goals (xG) – 1.47 against Urawa’s 1.25. The problem was finishing: of their 14 attempts, only two hit the target. Despite the defeat, the performance earned them praise.
On average, Chiba score 0.91 goals per match (identical to Cerezo) but concede exactly two per game. That pushes the average total in their encounters to 2.91 goals. Defence is clearly their Achilles’ heel, but their attack is gradually finding its rhythm.
Cerezo Osaka are nowhere near the monolithic home side they used to be. Even the current Chiba side looks stronger than some of the opposition Cerezo have failed to beat on their own turf. The bookmakers, in our view, are offering too generous odds on the visitors to avoid defeat in this fixture.
Main prediction: Chiba not to lose (Double Chance: X2) @ 2.05
Both defences are leaking goals this season, and both teams are capable of scoring. Chiba have netted in recent matches, Cerezo have shown they can reply after the break. It makes sense to expect goals at both ends.
Goals prediction: Both teams to score (Yes) @ 1.71

Yes, the prediction includes both teams to score (Yes) at 1.71, as both defenses are leaky and attacks are capable.
Cerezo have not won in three J1 League rounds, sit 13th with 13 points, and have been poor at home this season, averaging 0.91 goals scored and 1.55 conceded per game.
Chiba are second-last with 6 points, only one win, but showed improvement by scoring twice in their last match (a 3-2 loss away to Urawa).
Cerezo's defense is the weakest link (1.55 goals conceded per game), while Chiba concede 2 per game but their attack is gradually finding rhythm.
